Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form may be sent to the third-party provider that returns the results. The private site does not keep a copy of those search terms on its own servers. If you email us, we receive the message and the details you choose to include so a reply can be sent.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting providers may record an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps in ordinary server logs. We may review that information in aggregate to keep Marin County Residents Directory working and to understand which reference pages are used. Basic analytics or advertising-measurement cookies may operate where applicable.
How Limited Data Is Used
Limited data supports site operation, fault repair, traffic measurement, and page improvements. We do not sell visitor lists or build individual user profiles.
Links to External Resources
The pages link to Marin County portals, California services, library and archive collections, and third-party search tools. The privacy policies of those destinations govern what you submit there. Sponsored result areas are supplied by a third party, so submissions there follow that provider's practices.
Who Can Process It
Hosting and technical service providers may process ordinary logs. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. Information may also be disclosed when valid legal process requires it, and otherwise is not disclosed beyond the providers needed to operate the service.
Security and Retention
Connections to the site use encryption, and logs are kept only as long as the operational purposes above require. There are no accounts, passwords, or user profiles stored here to expose.
Visitors Under 18
Marin County Residents Directory is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information, contact us and we will delete it.
California Privacy Choices
California's Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, is codified at Civil Code §§1798.100 et seq. Where that law applies, rights may include access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, subject to exceptions, along with applicable opt-out rights for sale or sharing, limits on sensitive-information use, and protection from discrimination. Because this service keeps little data, a request normally means checking the contact mailbox and ordinary server logs, then removing data that can be found and is not required to retain. Use the Contact page to ask. The California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000-7931.000, governs requests to public agencies, not this private reference. Records held by California, Marin County, or local custodians are outside our control; requests to remove or correct those records go to the custodian. California's Safe at Home program, Government Code §§6205-6216, can provide enrolled participants with a substitute mailing address, but this service cannot control or erase the custodian's records.
